Washington, D.C., November 29, 2007-- Vapiano, a cosmopolitan restaurant and lounge concept serving gourmet pastas, pizzas and salads, is celebrating its five year anniversary. Vapiano has grown from a single unit to over 30 open locations across the globe and was recently dubbed the “Future of Fresh Casual” by Foodservice Europe.
“Vapiano’s growth and popularity is astounding,” says Kent Hahne, Vapiano President. “We have taken the concept beyond European markets and around the world –it is clear that Vapiano has become a leading force in the restaurant industry."
Many of their restaurants can be found throughout Germany, in key markets such as Zurich, Vienna, Istanbul, Budapest, Warsaw-Poland, Stockholm-Sweden, Dubai-Emirates, Jedda & Riad-Saudi Arabia, London, England and now the United States.
“I am particularly excited to see our growth going forward,” continues Hahne. “Vapiano International has had so much positive momentum over the past five years all over the world but now particularly in the United States.”
Vapiano has already opened two corporately owned restaurants in the greater Washington, D.C. area and plans to open ten additional corporately owned restaurants in the same area over the next three years to serve as the launching pad for an aggressive U.S. expansion.
In addition to D.C., Vapiano will be targeting Miami, Chicago, Las Vegas, Atlanta, Boston, New York City and other key markets for corporate expansion and already has a number of prospective franchisees identified for supplementary markets across the country.
Vapiano, the European hot spot specializing in fresh casual Italian food, was established in Germany five years ago. The restaurant became such an instant success due to its innovative self service technology and unmistakable upscale décor that the company quickly began to expand throughout the world. Restaurants are 5,000-8,000 square feet, seat 150 or so guests and have a blended check average of about $13.50 per guest.
