PRESS RELEASE
HOT EUROPEAN CONCEPT HITTING METRO DC
Washington, D.C., June 16, 2006 — Vapiano, the German-based hot spot specializing in fast casual Italian food with a true European flair is crossing the Atlantic and heading to Washington, DC. In November 2006, Vapiano will open the doors to its first U.S. location on 18th and M Street followed by new openings next to the Verizon Center at 7th & H Streets in Chinatown and as well a Glebe Road in Ballston.
“Vapiano is an exceptional restaurant concept that will change the way that fast-casual restaurants do business in the future,” said Kent Hahne, President.
Vapiano is a fast casual restaurant with a twist - customers use a "chip card" to personally order their food or drinks from the bar or from the individual fresh pizza, pasta or salad stations. Vapiano also distinguishes itself through an unmistakable image created by Milan’s star designer, Matteo Thun. The restaurant radiates an atmosphere of Italian lifestyle and Mediterranean elegance.
Fine oak furnishing, natural stone, soft leather and modern design elements are characteristic found in all Vapiano restaurants. Whether in the lounge or on the grand gallery everybody, from the kids to high profile clientele, feel comfortable.
Vapiano has 10 locations open in Germany and another 16 scheduled to open by the end of 2007. Restaurant leases signed in the metropolitan Washington, D.C region include, 18th and M Street NW, scheduled to open in November of 2006, Chinatown at the MCI Center opening in mid-December and Ballston scheduled for late December. Vapiano plans to franchise additional locations in the future. A total of 10 to12 Vapiano restaurants are planned to open around the Washinton, DC-metro while the Company also targets several other major metropolitan markets across the U.S.
Restaurants are 5,000-8,000 square feet, seat 150 or so guests and have a blended check average of about $13.50 per guest.
